Kannan Mamens engagement 25th July 2008

Its was like a great flash news, because after a long years Kannan mamen has made up his mind and decided to get married. So we all are were excited and very happy to see this occassion.  I have some work in office, so  I have to stay in office for some time, as the ceremony was in the evening, I made some arrangements and left office early.  Reached home and everybody was getting ready with all nice sarees and dresses, we left home by auto as it was very nearby we took 2 -3 trips in the auto and reached the brides home and the scheduled time.  Brides home was buzzing with people and few of them very busy preparing the documents to be handed over, and the priest was getting ready for the pooja and ceremonies.  Kannan mamen was not in picture he dont have any role in this ceremony so he was sitting very near to the brides home.  The bride came and sat with a redy silk saree and it was beginning of rituals, I was busy taking pictures with the handycam, and after about 30-40 minutes the priest gave the marriage documents i.e the time and date, location and muhurtam of the marriage and the date and time was announced to the gathering. And Kannan mamen came for a small ceremony that is to put the engagement ring after this, there was a offering of snacks and we had that moved to our home.  And some of the women folks left back to take the bride to our temple nearby for worship that also part of the rituals...

Peru Vili ( 17th Feb 2008 )

After marriage there is always happenings, good news to the family, the birth of a baby, then the Horoscope, and the naming( peruvili ) ceremony, so its a part of the show " marriage " . One week before, on 10th Feb 08, Ani came to my house to invite for the peruvili ceremony, that was on Sunday 17th Feb, he was bussee with inviting most of the family members, colleagues n friends.

We started from our home Saturday night to Vinods house, so that we can comfortably get ready and go for the peruvili. But our State is famous for Hartals and Strikes, as the petrol / diesel prices was hiked the motor workers union intiated a strike on 17th Sunday. That was very saddening news because Ani has booked a bus for going for the ceremony and the place was about 1 hour ride from here. I checked up with Ani told that the bus owner has promised that they will take the bus tommorow. The bus came at 10 AM people were trickling in because most of them cannot reach because of the Strike. There were only about 40- 45 people in the bus and the bus people put a board " Vivaham " ( Vivaham means "wedding " to fool the striking people ) the road was open and no other vehicles and the bus driver was cruising his bus at top speed.

Reached Anis wife house, the people have a tough time crossing the small canal accross the house but all got through the, so called bridge of two coconut palm layed. All moved to home except the men folks took time to browse the areas and we also moved near to the lake and a good time there. The priest who was to read the horoscope came late so the ceremony started late, we got a call from Anis brother so we moved to the home. The ceremony has started and the baby ( Abhinav ) was lying on Anis brothers lap and all who had come along are putting golden rings and bangles on the baby ( baby was crying ) after that we had Sadya and after some time we all boarded the bus and returned home.

Anis has put all his effort and money to make the ceremony a gr8 success. His mother told that he took almost all of his wifes ornaments to make golden waist chain for the baby, and he also spend a lot of money to entertain all of them who came for the ceremony .
